COME WORK FOR 2026 CAMP!
Tech Trek Washington is looking for Volunteer Staff who have a passion for sharing their interests in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) with middle schoolers. Working with Tech Trek is a great way to get involved in helping campers discover their potential in STEM. Tech Trek is staffed entirely by volunteers and couldn’t be done without these efforts. Volunteers receive room and board on campus, mileage to/from home/campus and a modest stipend.
Note: Because we are an overnight camp for young women, all of our staff members and applicants must be female.

Core Teacher job description download/print

Teachers will provide a STEM core class (3 hours/day for 4 mornings) and conduct mini labs in the afternoons. Classes should prioritize stimulating, hands-on learning and STEM-focused activities. Students may work on cumulative projects throughout the week or have a different project each day. Teachers should have a strong understanding of and passion for teaching STEM topics. Teachers should also have strong classroom management skills and must enjoy working with middle school students.

Dorm Monitors are responsible for a group of 10-12 Tech Trek campers, provide emotional support, and respond to campers’ questions and concerns throughout the week. Each Dorm Monitor will have a ‘dorm group’ of seven to ten girls. Dorm monitors will hold daily meetings with their dorm groups and keep track of their whereabouts throughout the day. They will accompany girls to campus activities and field trips and will be in charge of the enforcement of camp rules and policies.
Student Counselor job description download/print Student counselors must be between 16 and 21 by February 27 in order to be considered

They assist teachers, Dorm Monitors and the Camp Director during the week of camp with activities, field trips, material preparation and general camper needs. Student counselors will be paired with a Dorm Monitor and help supervise campers throughout the day and assist camp staff with classes and other activities. They will help to provide a safe environment, monitor campers, ensure they are where they need to be, and act as role models for the campers by demonstrating a warm, positive outlook and attitude as well as excitement for STEM.

The Lead Counselor is a support person for Student Counselors. They are responsible for planning icebreakers and getting-to-know you activities, as well as keeping Student Counselors engaged with one another. Lead Counselor applicants must have been a Student Counselor for two years prior to applying.

The CAMP DIRECTOR sets the tone for camp. They are tasked with coordinating preparations for camp from October to August, and with leading the program once it begins in July.

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR is responsible for assisting the leadership team with all aspects of camp planning. The Assistant Director may help with training staff, coordinating outside vendors, communicating with families, or assigning roommate pairings. The Assistant Director is primarily active October through August, and will assist with all manner of tasks during camp in July.

STUDENT AND FAMILIES COORDINATOR is primarily active from March to July. They will assist with preparing camper consent paperwork for distribution, answering camper and family questions, and creating core class groups, mini lab groups, dorm groups, and roommate pairings. Volunteer Coordinator advertises Tech Trek’s open volunteer staff positions, evaluate applications, conduct interviews, and select volunteer staff members. This role is perfect for someone looking for a remote volunteer position where they can learn secretarial and managerial skills; or, for someone who enjoys secretarial work and is passionate about supporting STEM education. To streamline our interview process, we typically have two Volunteer Coordinators. The individuals serving in this role are not required to attend camp.

Health Aide provides basic medical support for campers and is responsible for the training and supervision of the Assistant Health Aide. The Health Aide should be highly organized and experienced in maintaining accurate records, including injury reports and daily medication intake. The Health should also be familiar with all camper medical history prior to camp and keep the Directing Team updated on any medical events that take place during camp. Applicants for this position should be a senior nursing student, current health care provider or a retired health care provider with updated training. Health Aide must be at least 21 years old. Assistant Health Aide has main responsibility to work in conjunction with the Health Aide to provide campers with necessary medications and respond in the case of emergencies. You will follow the Health Aide in practices for logging medications and filling out incident reports.
